
Sarah Hallen, MD
Principal Investigator
Sarah Hallen is a graduate of the University of Vermont College of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine residency program at Strong Memorial Hospital located in Rochester New York and her Geriatric Medicine fellowship here at Maine Medical Center. Dr. Hallen is board certified in Internal and Geriatric Medicine Medicine and is currently practicing at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland. Dr. Hallen is the Geriatric Medicine fellowship program director and serves as the Assistant Designated Institutional Official for Graduate Medical Education at MaineHealth.
Since childhood, Dr. Hallen has been drawn to the company of older adults and has found joy in to caring for this population. She believes that ideal care for older adults should prioritize quality of life, maintenance of function and making care decisions that honor the things that are most important to them. High functioning teams provide the best holistic care for older adults and this has motivated Dr. Hallen’s interest in researching how to educate teams and evaluate interprofessional interventions to improve patient care.
As lead Principal Investigator, Dr. Hallen oversees all aspects of the iPACE™ initiative and develops strategies to advance it forward.
